2018 – Figaro

Figaro
by Charles Morey
Freely adapted from Beaumarchais’ “Le Mariage de Figaro”

A delightful comedy about a scheming servant, a lecherous Count and the smart women in their lives.

He’s getting married in the morning, and the ambitious Figaro (servant, barber, professional mischief-maker) couldn’t be happier. But with everybody scheming to come between him and his bride, Figaro will need all his cunning to make it down the aisle.

This adaptation of the popular comic tale of love and deceit among the rich and their servants was first written in 18th-century France, by Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. A writer of satirical comedies, Beaumarchais is often known for the operatic adaptations of his The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro by Rossini and Mozart respectively.
