The Miser – a play by Molière

Our first play for the 2012 season is The Miser.

A story of greed, love and coincide!

The Miser (L’Avare in the original French) is a 5-act comedy of manners written in 1668 by French playwright Molière. The play brilliantly blends satire and farce with a fast-moving plot that features many surprises.

The story is based around a rich moneylender named Harpagon, whose feisty children long to escape from his penny-pinching household and marry their respective lovers.
