Code of Conduct
Growl Theatre is a Brisbane-based, volunteer-run community theatre dedicated to creating quality performances in a fun, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
We rely on the professionalism, commitment, and respect of all members—on stage, backstage, and in the wider community. All members are expected to treat others with courtesy and uphold the values of Growl Theatre at all times.
Our Code of Conduct outlines the behaviours that help keep our community safe, welcoming, and aligned with our values. It also sets clear expectations around unacceptable conduct. When in doubt, let mutual respect, common sense, and good judgement guide your actions.

Growl Theatre Behaviour Expectations
All members are expected to uphold these values during rehearsals, performances, meetings, events, and whenever representing Growl Theatre:
🤝 Respect Others
Treat cast, crew, volunteers, audiences, and guests with respect and kindness. Value all backgrounds, abilities, and perspectives.
⏰ Act Professionally
Be punctual, prepared, and reliable. Let someone know in advance if you’re running late or can’t attend. Follow directions and contribute positively to the team.
🏳️🌈 Create a Safe, Inclusive Space
No bullying, harassment, or exclusion. Help make Growl a space where everyone feels safe and welcome.
🗣️ Communicate Thoughtfully
Use respectful, constructive communication—face-to-face, online, and in writing. Avoid gossip or speaking on behalf of the Theatre without approval.
🧹 Respect Property and Spaces
Treat props, costumes, and venues with care. Clean up after yourself and report damage or hazards.
🌱 Support Growth and Learning
Encourage others, share your knowledge, and accept feedback with a positive attitude.
🚫 Use Substances Responsibly
No drugs or alcohol during rehearsals, shows, or official events (unless approved at a social event).
📱 Be Mindful with Tech & Media
Only film, photograph, or share rehearsal/performance content with permission. Always ask first.
⚖️ Commit to Equity
Support equal opportunity and respectful collaboration. Be mindful of privilege and power dynamics.
📢 Report Concerns Promptly
If you see or experience misconduct, report it to the Committee. All concerns are treated seriously and without retaliation.
❌ Unacceptable Conduct
The following behaviours are not tolerated and may lead to disciplinary action:
💥 Bullying, intimidation, or harassment of any kind
❗ Discrimination (race, gender, sexuality, age, disability, etc.)
😠 Aggressive, violent, or threatening behaviour
🛠️ Theft, damage, or misuse of theatre property
🚫 No-shows or repeated unreliability without communicationn
🍷 Being under the influence at rehearsals or shows
🗯️ Gossip, rumours, or toxic behaviour
💻 Publicly criticising Growl or its members (online or in person)
🟣 Help keep Growl Theatre safe, respectful, and welcoming for everyone.
