Our 2020 production of “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley” delighted with its romance, intrigue, and celebration of the Darcys’ first family Christmas at Pemberley.
This charming companion piece, “The Wickhams”, takes us ‘downstairs’ during that same celebration. The busy preparations and a budding romance are disrupted by an unexpected mid-night visitor; certainly uninvited but not quite so unwelcome for some.
A touching tale exploring society, relationships, and responsibility; with the Darcys, their mainstays Mrs Reynolds (housekeeper) and Brian (the footman), new maid Cassie, and of course, “The Wickhams”.
Synopsis
As the events of Miss Bennet unfold upstairs at Pemberley, the servants below stairs find themselves in the midst of a different holiday scandal. An unwelcome visitor has arrived, disrupting holiday preparations and sowing discord among Pemberley’s residents—George Wickham.
As the festivities spiral into chaos, a secreted letter may be the key to resolving old disputes and new misunderstandings. Warm and sensational, Gunderson and Melcon’s second Austen adaptation delves into class, privilege, family and forgiveness, for an instant holiday classic.
